YoYo Lander, the artist intertwining cubism and realism
Meet YoYo Lander, the Los Angeles autodidactic painter that interlaces cubism and realism. YoYo’s creations explore eccentric color palettes, pulsating color contrasts, womanhood and their various intersections. With inspiration stimulated from personal photographs, narratives of aboriginal women and all that surrounds her, YoYo’s renderings encompass an arrangement of brown pigments layering both soft and vivacious color blocks. YoYo’s creations trigger dialogue regarding joy, identity, sisterhood and community between the painting itself and its audience.
YoYo Lander recently showcased her work in the exhibition, “When Joy Overcomes Pain,” hosted by Dysonna Art Gallery in Los Angeles. More of her works can be viewed here.
